The boa constrictor is a big non-venomous snake native to Central and South America. Of all of the subspecies, essentially the most well-known is the Columbian red tail boa constrictor (boa constrictor constrictor). The common name refers to a deep red/brown coloration on the saddles on the tail and anterior portion of the back.

Size: The red tailed boa constrictor is a large snake, with adults capable of attain lengths in extra of 12 feet, although 9 – 10 foot is extra common. Female boa constrictors, as with most snakes, tend to be larger and extra muscular than the males.
